What's the best way to clean my Dino-Lite without damaging it?

Francis Chan

I noticed a small piece of dust on my dino-lite screen when I used it. How can I get rid of it without transferring more dust to the microscope, or damaging it?

Hi Francis, thank you for your question. I've included some tips below.

Cleaning the Lens:

Please note: The Dino-Lite lens is a complex, multi-layered design and is very sensitive. Please be careful when attempting to clean your Dino-Lite, and avoid using alcohol, or other harsh cleaners. Do not apply any cleaning solution directly to the lens, and avoid frequent or unnecessary cleaning.

If you are noticing a fragment on the screen when using your Dino-Lite, first check if adjusting the magnification from low to high changes the size of the object. If the object size does not change during the magnification adjustment, please contact us, as this could be a sensor issue.

To clean the Dino-Lite lens, we suggest first carefully trying compressed gas duster or compressed air, to see if it might be a loos piece of dust that can be removed easily. You can purchase this at most computer or office supply stores, and online.

Note: Only apply a quick, short burst and avoid overusing the compressed gas, as this may cause more harm than good. Always use the compressed gas with at least a few inches of clearance from the lens, and make sure the canister is held upright and not shaken prior to use.

Another option is to use equipment specifically designed for camera lens cleaning (available online). Gently use a hand operated air pump to blow away any debris on the lens, and remove any remaining dust or dirt with a soft-bristled lens brush (specifically designed for cameras). IF necessary, apply a few drops of lens cleaning solution to a folded lens tissue or cleaning cloth, and gently wipe the lens with the tip of the folded cloth from the center outward.

Cleaning the Body:

Do NOT submerge the Dino-Lite microscope in liquid. Avoid the use of alcohol products when cleaning the body of the Dino-Lite microscope. For sanitation, the use of non-alcoholic cleaners such as the Sani-Cloth AF3 is recommended.

Interchangeable caps: Caps can be cleaned in a diluted solution of alcohol with distilled water.

Please do not attempt any cleaning method not listed above. If the issue remains or you are unable to sufficiently clean your Dino-Lite using these steps, please contact our team over the chat, email or phone for additional support.
