    Dino-Lite AM2111 Summary

The Dino-Lite AM2111 is Dino-Lite's entry-level model. Priced well, it is unquestionably better value than cheaper competing products that lack the quality of software and design. The AM2111 is, in our opinion, the best in class and we recommend it compared to cheaper imitations. It offers 10x~50x and 230x zoom magnification with 640x480 pixel resolution, USB 2.0 output and four Always-On LED lights. With the new Android App, it also works on many Android devices via USB/mini USB.This is an excellent choice for hobbyists, elementary schools and kids.

    MS22B Articulating Stand (Black)

Dino-Lite offers this economic stand option to accommodate its line of handheld digital microscopes. This flexible, versatile desktop stand provides an excellent hands-free solution to shaky images. It's ideal for users who seldom need to change focus or magnification.

The Articulating Desktop Stand, with a convenient adjustable point of view, comes in gloss black, making it a stylish choice for any environment. The MS22B is another versatile tool in the expanding line of Dino-Lite accessories to help you maximize your potential.

Book: The World Of The Microscope

Usborne's The World of the Microscope is, in our opinion, a wonderful and colorful introduction to microscopy. Practical, clearly worded and illustrated, it provides numerous experiments and activities that range from simple to more complex.

The book has hundreds of stimulating experiments that can be conducted in the home using everyday items such as onions, corks, bugs and leaves among many other easily obtainable specimens from both land and sea. A plethora of color illustrations are not only educational, but also provide step-by-step guidance on the respective experiments.

As a result, we recommend this book for all new microscopists - regardless of age.

Rock Specimen Education Kit - Set of 15

Ideal for the hobbyist collector, home schooling assignment, scouting project or hobby use, this educational rock collection includes 5 samples from each of the three major rock classifications: igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks.

    Igneous

Igneous rocks are called "Fire Rocks", because they are the solid form of what was once molten lava. They make up 95% of the earth's crust and this collection features 5 of the most popular types of igneous rocks including granite, rhyolite, basalt, obsidian and scoria.

    Metamorphic

Metamorphic rocks began their life as sedimentary or igneous rocks that came under tremendous pressure. This pressure generates a great deal of heat, which causes the rock to literally "morph" or change into a metamorphic rock.  This collection features 5 of the most common types of metamorphic rocks such as slate, quartzite, marble, phyllite and Gneiss.

    Sedimentary

Sedimentary rocks are formed when plants, soil and animal matter settle to the muddy bottom of inland seas, lakes and oceans. Over millions of years and thousands of tons of pressure, these layers of mud eventually turn into rock. When the seas dry up, the rock becomes exposed to the elements, creating samples like limestone, sandstone, shale and coquina bituminus coal.

Each labeled specimen measures approximately 1" x 1," neatly housed in a divided storage container with an identification sheet. Choking Hazard: Small parts - not for children under 3 years.
