Beekeeper Microscope and Supplies
Identify and treat nosema in your honey bee colonies yourself. It's easy to do with a beekeeper microscope. You'll save yourself the cost of sending samples away for analysis, or the cost of unnecessary treatments for your bees. The investment pays for itself within months.
Understand your bees better
A beekeeper microscope gets you more acquainted with the health of your hives, so you can raise them better.
Cut your costs
When you diagnose hive problems like nosema yourself, you save all the costs of having an outside expert diagnose (or the cost of treating your hive blind).
Learn something new
It's intimidating from the outside, but once you know how to use a microscope to improve your beekeeping practice, you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner.
Shipping's on us!

Like most beekeepers, you're always concerned about Nosema ceranae in your honey bee colony.

How much time do you spend looking for the nosema spore in the hive?
For a lot of beekeepers, the answer is one of three:
Very little, because I pay for the expensive treatment for the nosema infection regardless.
Very little, because I send away honey bee samples to bee scientists who look for the infection for me
Very little. When I spot sick bees, I treat the whole hive for infection.
With a purpose-built scientific beekeeping microscope, a hobbyist or commercial beekeeper can identify nosema in a honeybee colony and mark other signs of good bee health in minutes.
You don't have to be an expert in honey bee biology (but you'll become one, no doubt) to take a bee sample from any of your bee colonies and accurately spot Nosema apis and Nosema ceranae fungus, or hunt down the varroa mite or tracheal mite variety that's been doing a number on your colony.
The cost of a good microscope is quickly recovered by avoiding unnecessary nosema or mite treatment, or avoiding colony loss.
How can a humble beekeeper like you identify the nosema spores you've relied on bee scientists to find for so long?
Randy Oliver walks you through the best, and easiest, method here. The short version is:
Get your equipment
Take your bee samples (you'll need lots of samples to find the spores, because one infected bee can be loaded with spores, and could skew your results)
Process the samples
Find and identify the spores (it's easier than you think once you've processed your samples correctly
Count the spores (you don't have to count each spore individually. That'd be almost impossible, since they're smaller than a pollen grain. There are microscope accessories to make this easy) for your - you guessed it - nosema spore count.
...but that doesn't teach you how. We recommend every beekeeper interested in finding an average spore count for a hive read Randy's entire process, and follow it closely.
Why does Omano make just one model of beekeeper microscope?
Because beekeeping is complicated enough, and you don't need the features you don't need.
There's no special lens to look at worker bees vs house bees or adult bees vs a nurse bee. If you want, you can look at pollen on the same microscope as any sample from your brood.
With one single microscope model, you'll learn more about entomology than you could from anything else.
Yours comes with a limited lifetime warranty and a 30-day no-questions return policy. If you try this out and decide you want to leave the spores to the bee scientists, send it back.
Give it a try. We know you're going to love it.
