Gout Testing Microscopes and Supplies
If you're interested in better patient outcomes (and we bet you are!), specialized gout testing microscopes help make your diagnosis faster, easier, and with greater confidence. You can move patients through treatment and recovery faster with these features:
Diagnosing gout with traditional light microscopy is hard. Polarizing light makes it incredibly easy.
A trinocular head
The trinocular port is used to attach a digital camera for fast and easy recordkeeping of your diagnosis workflow.
A WiFi microscope camera
WiFi video capture for your record keeping is the most user-friendly way to do things.

The most important part of a gout microscope is polarizing light.
Identifying gout or CPPD (pseudo-gout) crystals suspended in synovial fluid calls for specialized microscope equipment. Under polarized light, the needle-shaped crystals appear differently than CPPD crystals (or false gout).
Diagnosis is fast and easy (and technicians save a lot of eye strain and gain a substantial productivity boost versus attempting diagnosis through regular light microscopy).
Gout is painful! So a quick gout diagnosis and the promise of treatment is a great relief for patients.
What are the most important pieces of a gout microscope?
The key elements include polarization components like a sliding analyzer and full-wave plate polarizer.
For diagnosis, a fresh sample of synovial fluid is taken from site, smeared across the slide, air dried (because that's the best way to see the monosodium urate crystals) and investigated.
For documentation and collaboration, many gout microscopes feature a trinocular head and digital camera. Teaching new medical professionals or new hires is much easier when you don't have to share a binocular microscope head.
If a polarizing light microscope isn't available, acute gout can be diagnosed by a keen eye by looking for the needle-shaped monosodium urate crystals in joint fluid under normal light microscopy. But the difference between the two techniques is substantial.
Meiji makes the best gout microscope, and it's why we don't carry anything else designed for this specific diagnostic process. It's the best value you'll find anywhere. Want to know more? Give us a call and we'll tell you all about it.
