We generally separate microscope accessories into two categories:
Accessories - or things that make your microscope more functional.
Supplies - or common necessities you use for general microscopy.
Let's start with accessories
Your optical microscope comes with everything you need to look down your lens at a sample. But your application might call for something unique.
A set of wide field paired microscope eyepiece replacements.
A supplementary light source, like a variable intensity ring LED light or a set of gooseneck fiber optic illuminators or a special forensic UV light.
A high-resolution digital camera for imaging and cataloging your specimen.
A Barlow lens to increase working distance.
A filter kit for the light on your scope.
You can also upgrade your objective lens on a stereo microscope or compound microscope with an objective kit or single objective lenses
If your application evolves and you don't want to replace the microscope you're happy with, you can upgrade your equipment with a stage warmer, mechanical stage, or application-appropriate stage plate (they come in clear and frosted glass, acrylic, and more).
There is also a valuable accessory for any application you use your Dino-Lite digital USB microscope for. A foot pedal for image capture, a portable LCD screen that's commonly used in electronics repair shops, a photo lightbox for better imaging optics.
What about supplies?
Microscopy calls for you to be well supplied. If you want to look at a particular type of cell under your compound microscope, you better have the right stain. Your instrument is only useful if you have everything you need to look at a slide ready.
To make sure you can use your microscope for imaging every day, make sure you have a good supply of:
Replacement bulbs.
Immersion oil.
Prepared slides and other microscope slide varieties, plus coverslip.
Keep a good cleaning kit, plastic forceps, and plastic pipet or dropper nearby as well.
You invested in a powerful microscope with every filter needed to perform your high magnification work. Don't let a lack of slide coverslips or a poorly cleaned piece of equipment get in the way of your productive microscopy.
If you aren't quite sure which set of accessories can improve your application, give us a call. We've helped hundreds of people like you get more value from their investment
