Every prepared slide is assembled by a human expert meticulously going through each step of slide preparation to ensure every sample is perfect.
Every dry mount slide, with samples of pollen, hair, feathers, or plant materials is prepared with a coverslip to keep the specimen in place and to help protect the objective lens of the microscope.
Every wet mount slide is prepared using established best practices. A drop of water suspends the specimen between the slide and coverslip. The sample is placed on the slide, then water. The cover slip goes over the edge of the sample and is carefully lowered into place. Using this method, air bubbles are removed from the microscope slide entirely. You'll find this type of mount with liquid-bound organisms such as paramecium or bodily fluids.
Every smear slide sample is made by carefully smearing a thin layer of the specimen across a slide and then applying a cover slip. It is then allowed to air dry before applying a stain.
